Artl: How To...

What are some things I should NEVER do while working in ARTL?

  1. Do not plug or unplug anything.
A proctor will gladly assist you.
  2. Do not turn anything on or off.
  3. Do not take food or drinks into the lab.
  4. Do not attempt to copy ARTL software or download pirated software.
  5. Do not stay late. Save your files and finish any printing fifteen minutes before the lab closes.
  6. Be aware of the legal issues involved in duplicating copyright protected materials.

Violating any one of these rules can result in your being asked to leave and/or being temporarily or permanently banned from the lab.

What are some things I can do to help ensure the computer I am using does not crash?

  1. Make sure to log in and out on the computer. Quit all open applications and finish all printing requests before logging out.
  2. Try to avoid using multiple applications at the same time. When possible, quit one application before opening another.
  3. When ejecting a CD or disk (thumb drive or fire wire drive), drag the icon of the disk to be ejected to the trash. NEVER use the 'Eject Disk' command.

What kind of printing services are available in ARTL?

Black and white print in letter format (8.5"x11") are available at no charge directly from the computers in the hallway and middle room.

Color prints are available from the Eposn Inkjet printers, color printing is not a free service and has a three day turn around time. Payments will be made with Bevobucks before printing is started. Please read the instructions posted next to the office door for more specific information regarding color printing. Print on paper of the same size as your work. Avoid waste.
