Adjunct Lecturer Buchanan received a B.F.A. from The University of Missouri St. Louis in 2000 and an M.F.A. from The University of Texas in 2005. Through large-scale charcoal drawings, his work is rooted in the immediate act of drawing and investigations into the sublime. Marks, movement and erasures accumulate to form and abstract a place; locating it along a time-line that is set up by the power, mystery and crescendo of a natural event. Jason had been conducting a drawing lab for the undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Theater and Dance as well as teaching 2-D Foundations in the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas. Jason has had one person shows at John Burroughs in St. Louis and at the 511 Gallery in New York. Group exhibitions have included William Towers Gallery, Texas A&M University, Galley 107,and the Conduit Gallery in Dallas.
