Applicants who earned Dual Credit (college level course work completed while still enrolled in high school) must submit official college transcripts from the institution offering the dual enrollment program for evaluation by The University’s Office of Admissions to have credit officially transferred.
Applicants for transfer admission must submit official transcripts of all coursework taken at all other institutions for evaluation by the UT Austin Office of Admissions. This evaluation determines whether the coursework could in any circumstance qualify for transfer credit at the University but does not constitute approval of the credit for use toward a degree; such approval is solely within the jurisdiction of a student's academic dean.
Most credit accepted from another college or university will be specified by the Office of Admissions in terms of equivalent courses at the University of Texas at Austin. For some transferred courses (especially in the fine arts), credit will be accepted but no specific University equivalency assigned. If, for example, a student has completed twelve semester hours of transferable coursework in studio art at another school, the Office of Admissions may accept the work only as twelve semester hours of unspecified credit in art.
Unspecified transfer credit outside the student's major will be evaluated by the Office of the Dean. For unspecified transfer credit within the student's major, the student must seek a transfer evaluation from the designated advisor in art and art history. The advisor will identify courses in the major that are equivalent to University courses and forward his or her written recommendation to the Office of the Dean. This evaluation of unspecified transfer credit will occur during New Student Summer Orientation that precedes the first semester of enrollment.
