The electric and gas kiln areas include four Cone 6 electric kilns, five Cone 8-10 electric kilns (all of which are computer-controlled), nine Cone 10 gas kilns, one soda kiln, two raku kilns and a pit firing area. All kilns can be monitored with oxygen probes with electronic thermometers. There is a complete glaze lab with a spray booth and a full complement of glaze materials. Students interested in accessing the web for glaze information of images will have available a G-3 Power Mac with a variety of PhotoShop programs for the development of concepts and form. We also have clay mixing facilities with a 250 lb. Capacity Soldner mixer and two pug mills. Other equipment available includes eight Brent floor-model throwing wheels, nine Lockerbee throwing wheels, and three Randal wheels. Other equipment in the studio includes two Brent slab rollers, two extruders, ball mill, welding equipment, and rolling work tables. There is a complete wood working shop available nearby.
