Associate Professor Troy Brauntuch received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from California Institute of the Arts in 1975. Brauntuch was Adjunct Professor at Columbia University before coming to the University of Texas in 1998. He is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Grants and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 1999.

His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally for over 30 years and is included in numerous private and public collections. These include The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Dallas Museum of Art, and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Brauntuch’s artwork was included in the recent 2006 Whitney Biennial exhibition “Day for Night” in New York. In the summer 2007 his work was on view in a survey exhibition of his art from 1990-2007 at the Magasin-Centre National d'Art Contemporain in Grenoble, France.
