Associate Professor Jordan received his B.F.A. degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1962, an M.F.A. from Syracuse University in 1964, and began his teaching career at The University of Texas at Austin in 1969. For most of his career, Jordan's work has centered on the intricacies of color and their relationships to one another. His abstract paintings possess a high degree of surface texture and often reveal many layers of color. It is these complex color relationships which form the various stresses and tensions in the work.
