Associate Professor Kastner studied at both the University of Colorado in Boulder and the Baniff Fine Arts Center in Canada before receiving her B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art Institute. She went on to earn her M.F.A. from the State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in New York. Kastner was awarded a Mid-America Arts Alliance/National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1990 and received the Lee Hage Jamail Regents Fellowship in Fine Arts (1988), a Summer Research/Creativity Award (1988) and a Faculty Research Award (1987, 1999). She has had solo shows in Ft. Worth, Austin, and San Antonio, Texas, as well as Rapid City, South Dakota. Professor Kastner has exhibited in invitational group exhibitions at the Dallas Museum of Art, St. Louis, San Francisco, Ft. Collins and Boulder, Colorado; Indiana, and Pennsylvania, and other museums throughout Texas. Kastner is represented by dberman gallery in Austin
