John Stoney studied at Central School of Art, St. Martins School in London England. He received his B.F.A. from Syracuse University of Visual and Performing Arts, NY and his M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI. Between degrees he served in the Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa where he taught bronze casting at his foundry Atelier de la Bêtise in the savannah town of Tambong. Since 1999 he has lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn working on continuing series of sculpture on the American landscape. He has exhibited in New York at Art In General, Caren Golden Fine Art, Elizabeth Harris Gallery, Debbs and Co., Socrates Sculpture Park, The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and the 2006 Armory Show. He is a 2003 NYFA fellow in sculpture.
