Geometry of Hope Programs

The Blanton Museum of Art is offering a wide range of programs and events in conjunction with the major exhibition The Geometry of Hope: Latin American Abstract Art from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection.

Unless otherwise noted, all programs are open to the public and are included in the price of museum admission.

  • Symposium in conjunction with The Geometry of Hope

    Saturday, February 17, 9 AM-5:15 PM
    The University of Texas at Austin and New York University will present a major symposium in conjunction with the opening of The Geometry of Hope. This will bring international scholars to Austin to discuss the work on view in the exhibition. In the fall of 2007, in conjunction with the New York presentation of a version of the exhibition, New York University's Grey Art Gallery will present a second installment of the symposium, as well as a series of interdisciplinary programs on varied topics relating to modern and contemporary Latin American art and culture.     The Geometry of Hope International Symposium is organized by the Blanton Museum of Art in collaboration with New York University. Funding for the symposium is provided by the Fundación Cisneros. Air transportation provided by Continental Airlines.

    • A Night in Brazil
      Friday, March 2, 6-11 PM
      Join us for B scene, the Blanton's monthly art party, and experience a night in Brazil. See and be seen, sway to bossa nova strains, and enjoy South American wines and appetizers. Presented in collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin's Brazil Center. Cost: $5 for members; $10 for non-members. Tickets available at the museum.
    • A Night in Argentina
      Friday, April 6, 6-11 PM
      Continue the celebration of Latin American culture with a night in Argentina. Dance the tango plus enjoy all of the action at B scene: music, gallery tours, art activities, cash bar, and light refreshments. Cost: $5 for members; $10 for non-members. Tickets available at the museum.
  • Art Fix
    Get your creative fill with the Blanton's Art Fix series-short programs on art and art making, music, and lifestyle. Space is limited. Tickets are available at the Visitor Services Desk one hour before program begins.
