Crist wins ASCAP Deems Taylor Award

Copland scholar honored by nation's premiere music publishing organization

Elizabeth Crist, Assistant Professor of Musicology at The University of Texas at Austin, has been honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) with a Deems Taylor Award. These are the 37th Deems Taylor Awards, which are given in honor of outstanding print, broadcast, and new media coverage of music. This year's winners, including will be honored at a special reception on December 1, 2004 at the Walter Reade Theatre in New York City.

Professor Crist won her award for her article "Aaron Copland and The Popular Front," published earlier this year in the Journal of the American Musicological Society.
