Emily Walker's Night Terrors and Holly Williams' Futari Tomo (Two Together) at the American College Dance Festival
Works by M.F.A. Dance director Holly Williams and B.A. in Theatre and Dance senior Emily Walker were chosen to represent the UT Department of Theatre and Dance at the American College Dance Festival – South Central Regional Conference held February 27 through March 1 at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Comprised of universities from Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, the Regional Conference engages students in a variety of dance classes and workshops, and showcases outstanding choreographic and performing talent. Holly Williams' Futari Tomo (Two Together) and Emily Walker's Night Terrors were both selected from among 52 adjudicated works to perform at the Conference Gala Concert.
As an additional honor, Williams' work was one of four invited for performance at the 2008 ACDF National Festival in New York City, June 4 – 6.
The National Festival, to be held at the Miller Theatre on the Columbia University campus, recognizes an exceptional quality of work on a national level.
Futari Tomo (Two Together), performed to original Japanese taiko drum music composed and performed live by Angie Ahlgren (Performance as Public Practice Ph.D. candidate) and guest artist Jennifer Weir, showcases the artistic excellence of Dance Repertory Theatre, UT's student dance company. The piece features undergraduate dancers Katarina Arneric, Sarah Goocher, Lisa Kobdish, Kara Liotta, Cori Miller, Megan Rushing and Krystal Wigfield, costumes designed by Heather Koslov (B.A. Theatre and Dance candidate); and lighting designed by Katy Hallee (M.F.A. Theatrical Design candidate).
