Third year M.F.A. in Directing candidate, Luke Leonard in collaboration with Barefoot Theatre Company has organized a year-long celebration for the 70th birthday of renowned American playwright, Israel Horovitz. The event, named “70/70 Horovitz Project” will promote 70 events with 50 theater companies from around the globe including: France, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Japan, Korea, Australia and the United States of America. “This will mark the beginning of an international initiative to help us build bridges abroad,” Leonard said of the project.
Leonard has joined director, Andrea Paciotto, under the auspices of Monk Parrots and Offucina Eclectic Arts to present three of Horovitz's one-act plays in Spoleto, Italy, The Indian Wants the Bronx, Beirut Rocks, and What Strong Fences Make. Indian, directed by Leonard, was first produced in Spoleto in 1968.
