Dr. David Stuart and alumna Dr. Susan V. Webster named recipients of 2011 Guggenheim Fellowships

The Department of Art and Art History congratulates Dr. David Stuart (Linda and David Schele Professor of Mesoamerican Art and Writing) and alumna Dr. Susan V. Webster (Ph.D in Art History, 1992; and Jane W. Mahoney Professor of Art and Art History and American Studies at Williams and Mary College) for being named recipients of 2011 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowships . The annual Guggenheim Fellowships are appointed on the basis of prior achievement and exceptional promise. Dr. Stuart was one of four to receive the fellowship in the area of Anthropology and Cultural Studies, and Dr. Webster was one of two to receive the fellowship in the area of Fine Arts Research. There were 3000 applicants this year, out of which 180 fellowships were granted.
