The Department of Drama at Vassar College seeks an acting generalist to join a dynamic, active faculty in and undergraduate program. Vassar College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and is strongly and actively committed to diversity within its community. The position is a one-year (with possible extension to a three year contract) full time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2008. MFA degree and at least five years of teaching at the undergraduate level is highly recommended. The candidate should be comfortable teaching "method" acting, and have familiarity with other techniques such as Linklater, Suzuki, or Alexander. Knowledge and expertise should include standard speech and voice, dialects, combat, role preparation, the history of acting and the development of the various period styles. Teaching responsibilities will encompass beginning and advanced acting classes, directing studio acting projects, and mentoring student actors in departmental productions.
