Department of Art and Art History Alumnus Dave Woody, of Fort Collins, Colorado, has taken the top honor in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition, held every three years by the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Woody's portrait, titled “Laura”, pictures fellow alumna Laura Turner, one of Woody's graduate school classmates. The National Portrait Gallery offers a prize of $25,000 to accompany this accolade and a commission from the museum to portray a remarkable living American for the National Portrait Gallery permanent collection. The other top 48 portraits are currently on display alongside the winning piece.
