Name:
Shannon Koger
Year Graduated:
1985
Degree:
BA – Theatre
Favorite Memory of T&D:
All the friends that I made and all the fun we had can't be refined down to one particular thing. I'm proud to say I work with many of my fellow UT Drama alums on Broadway all the time. I have always said that the number of productions we did at school instilled in many of us that while theatre is art, it is also work. You should show up on time, leave your personal stuff at the stage door, and do the job. I have never forgotten that.
Influential Professors or Classes:
Paul Reinhardt, especially his Costume History class, and Ruth Denney
Current Hometown:
New York, NY
Current Profession:
I currently freelance in Wardrobe, dividing my work time between Broadway shows (currently in my 3rd year as a swing at SPAMALOT), ABC's All My Children, feature films, dance companies and musical artists. I am also on the Executive Board for the New York IATSE Wardrobe Local, 764.
Biography (or what you've done since graduating from UT):
I have been very lucky since graduating from UT to have never had a job outside theatre, starting in Regional theatre (The Alley, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis). Then I began my touring life with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Alvin Ailey, followed by supervising several Broadway show tours, including the final tour of HELLO, DOLLY! starring Carol Channing. Since settling down from the road I have worked on over 25 Broadway productions (including FOSSE, URINETOWN AND MOVIN' OUT) and over 100 productions at the Metropolitan Opera plus countless musical acts and dance companies.
