Irene White

Favorite Memory of T&D:

It's not so much a favorite memory as it is something that I can't believe now: when I started at UT in 1988, you could smoke in the lobby. Of the Theatre Building. On the couches. In plain view. And everyone did. Weird.

Influential Professors or Classes:

Stephen Gerald, Lee Abraham, Marian Hampton, Oscar Brockett, Gaye Bowen, and Lynn Sobieski (she seemed so DARING and THEATRICAL)

Current Hometown:

Los Angeles, CA

Current Profession:

Actress. Full-time. No really, I am.

Biography:

I moved to Chicago right after graduation and took classes at the Second City. I lived in Chicago for 3 years and did lots of free plays. And sometimes they were even good. After a brief jaunt to St. Louis to do children's theatre, I moved to Los Angeles to go to the M.F.A. Acting Program at UCLA.  I dropped out after the first year. (In truth, I just wasn't cut out for a Grad Program at that point in my life) I went back to work at Starbucks and got myself an agent and began auditioning for commercials and TV. And doing lots of long-form improvisation at ImprovOlympic West. And then I started booking said commercials and TV. And you know what? Sometimes they are even good.
