Full Name:
Will Brittain
Major/Year:
3rd Year Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Dance with an Acting Focus
Favorite class in Theatre & Dance and why:
Empowering the Acting through Voice with Barney Hammond – Barney treats each class as a professional environment and in doing so allows for each Actor in the class to work as a professional. His vocal training is wonderful and a necessity for a serious actor but is not limited to just the voice. Barney’s work solidifies many of the lessons and techniques taught in other acting classes, keeping you on your feet and ready for anything.
Favorite thing about Austin:
It’s really hard to pick between the food and the outdoor scene. On one hand you have Zilker Park, Barton Springs, Town Lake, and the Green Belt which are all awesome places to run, bike, swim, play, and chill; but then on the other hand there’s some great food like Mom’s Burgers, Man Bites Dog, Julio’s Café, and Mandolas.
Favorite place to study:
It depends. If it’s an all nighter I like Benu Coffee which is a 24 hour coffee shop off of MLK, if it’s during the day I prefer Quack’s Bakery in Hyde Park, if I’m working on a role I prefer outside somewhere or a studio.
Brief biography (including projects, awards, accomplishments):
I’m Louisiana born and Texas raised, living in Shreveport until the ripe old age of three when I moved to Atlanta, Texas, a small Northeast Texas town where I grew up to love Football and the outdoors. Since my arrival at U.T. in the fall of 2009 I’ve performed in several main stage productions including George Gibb’s in U.T.’s Our Town. In the summer of 2010 I participated in the Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Playwrighting Festival in the one man show Pigskin by Gabriel Jason Dean, which was selected as an award winning finalist. I recently performed in Austin’s Frontera Fest as Palace Etheridge in D’Angelico by Gabriel Jason Dean. Other roles include: Wren – Br’er Wood, Chad Tanke – Blue Point, and Russell Henderson – The Laramie Project: An Epilogue. Film credits include: David – Big Boy and Jake – Orbit.
Current projects/research/interests:
I’ve recently obtained a license as a Personal Trainer from the American Council on Exercise so I hope to begin training at a gym soon. I’m hoping to find a few films to work on for the Summer and will soon be preparing for my role as Hyde # 3/ Dr. H. K. Lanyon in U.T.’s fall 2011 production of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde directed by Daria Davis.
