Theatre and Dance

Jon Cook

Full Name:

Jon Cook

Major/Year:

4th year - B.A. Theatre & Dance

Favorite class in Theatre & Dance and why:

I would never choose favorites, especially when it comes to the caring and talented teachers I have had here at UT. I like to think that every experience is a learning one, whether within or without school. But I believe the most interesting and perspective shifting class for me in my collegiate career has been Scott Kanoff's Directing 1 class. Most of my training was that of an actor before working with Scott. However this class challenges one to take a step back and view the whole picture of a production. New perspective means new insights and solutions to the challenges of telling a story. I learned about directing, acting, and most of all story telling in this class.

Favorite thing about Austin:

I love the nature that is so nearby. Hiking, biking, and swimming is so accessible to the city. There's also one of the best public skate parks near to campus.

Favorite place to study:

Quack's 43rd Street Bakery. Delicious and friendly.
