Full Name:
Uyen-Anh Dang
Major/Year:
B.A. – Acting Focus/Fourth-Year
Favorite class in Theatre & Dance and why:
This is actually quite a tough question. I am in love with every acting class because I learn so much about different techniques to help my craft. But, if I had to choose one, I would choose Barney Hammond's “Empowering Acting through Voice.” He teaches us to focus simply on the text and language of the play, which will enable us to create a believable character. He also coaches you to notice every detail about your voice in order to connect to the play's language. He does not accept mediocrity and will push you to excel; his class is just awesome. I feel like I have grown so much as an actress with Barney's aid.
Favorite thing about Austin:
I love the feel of Austin. There is definitely a reason why Austin is “weird.” There are places and people here you can't find anywhere else. The music, the food, the shows, and the stores are just unique. Austin is such a diverse place that constantly keeps me begging for more. I am proud to call Austin my second home.
Favorite place to study:
I can sometimes be a bit of a homebody when it comes to studying. However, when there are clear skies and a nice breeze, I like to study outside near the six-pack. Of course, studying with friends anywhere is also super fun. My friend actually showed me this really nice, quiet bathroom on the top floor of Parlin that has access to the roof. I might try studying there next on a pretty day.

I was born in Houston, TX and realized my passion for acting at the end of middle school. Throughout high school, I was in various plays and participated in the UIL One-Act Competitions. Current projects/research/interests:
