Favorite class in Theatre & Dance and why:
It is really hard to pick a favorite Theatre and Dance class since I am dancing in most of my classes. I have to say though, that if I had to pick one, I would definitely go with the Contemporary Technique classes. This is where I feel like I can really absorb and learn from my professors and where I can take time to improve as a technical dancer.
Favorite thing about Austin:
Well I am from El Paso, TX and when I recently had moved to Austin about four years ago, I was delighted to see how much greenery there was around the city! Besides that though, because Austin has such a large university like UT, the diversity of people that live here is amazing. I love seeing ethnicities and cultures from all around the world all throughout the city, it really is an important part of the Austin scene.
Favorite place to study:
If I really have to get some studying done, I would have to say I am a library guy, so either the PCL or FAL.
Brief biography (including projects, awards, accomplishments):
Yebel Gallegos is from El Paso, TX and is currently a senior at the University of Texas at Austin. He will be graduating in December of 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. While attending the University of Texas he has had the privilege and opportunity to work with Professors Andrea Beckham, David Justin, Holly Williams, and Lyn Wiltshire on works for the Dance Repertory Theatre concerts through the years. Yebel has been in two dance films this year and will be performing in the Season Finale of Sharir + Bustamante Danceworks this month. Also at the end of this month he will be performing in the TexARTS production of Carousel. Yebel has trained in Mazatlan, Mexico with La Escuela Profesional de Danza de Mazatlan led by Delfos Contemporary Dance Company. In Mexico, apart from also performing with the school, Yebel took part in two musical productions with the city of Mazatlan. Aside from performing in Mexico he has also performed in Innsbruck, Salzburg, St. Johann, and Graz, Austria.
