Theatre and Dance

Timothy Keith Sharp, Jr.

Full Name:

Timothy Keith Sharp Jr (TJ)

Major/Year:
Second Year BFA Theatre Studies

Favorite class in Theatre & Dance and why:

My favorite class was Technical Theatre. It was my first taste of the behind the scenes work that goes into producing a show. I find the tech behind scenery, lighting, and costume amazing, as a future high school director, would like to learn as much as I can.

Favorite thing about Austin:

Besides the grocery store on Guadalupe with the big sign that says "Good Luck," my favorite aspect of Austin is the music. From the Longhorn marching band to the sweet sounds of Antone's and Stubbs, Austin has amazing talent when it comes to live music, and it's always close to campus.

Favorite place to study:

I, personally, find it impossible to study in my room with the distraction of TV, the computer, and Facebook. I like to go to the PCL, find a couch, and study.

Brief biography (including projects, awards, accomplishments):

I am the only one from my high school class in Amarillo to come to TEXAS. My Freshman year I acted in the First Year Players musical review in the fall of 05 and a short sketch comedy show produced by the Madrigal Dinner committee the following spring. This past semester I helped out with First Year Players and acted in the mainstage production of Holes. I am also a FIG mentor in the department, work in the costume shop as an office assistant, and designed a costume out of paper for DRT.

Current projects/research/interests:

Next semester I will act in a student production of Robin Hood and will continue to work in the costume shop. I will also start training to become an orientation advisor. I am cutting back on my theatre classes so I can start working toward my education requirement for my teaching degree.
