Official UT Transfer Admissions Page
If you attended a college or university after leaving high school, apply as a transfer student. You are considered a transfer student even if you withdrew from the college before earning any credit or if you earned only nontransferable credit; completion of at least 30 semester hours (or the equivalent) of transferable credit is required for transfer admission consideration.
Once we receive your admissibility from the UT Office of Admissions, the Department of Theatre and Dance Admissions Committee reviews a student's transfer GPA, resume and application essay. There is no portfolio review or audition for any student applying to the B.A. in Theatre and Dance or the B.F.A. in Theatre Studies. The resume should be mailed directly to the Department of Theatre and Dance at:
Transfer Undergraduate Admissions Committee
Department of Theatre and Dance
University of Texas at Austin
Austin, TX 78712-1168
In addition to departmental admission requirements, students applying to the B.F.A. in Dance are required to participate in an audition and submit letters of recommendation.
Before you transfer to UT's Department of Theatre and Dance:
1. Choose the appropriate degree plan.
General education requirements differ slightly between the three degrees offered by this department.
2. Understand Degree Requirements.
These are listed in extensive detail in the Guidelines for Theatre and Dance Degrees on the College of Fine Arts Web site.
3. Consider taking courses outside your major prior to your transfer to UT.
Math, Natural Sciences, Government, and Foreign Language (B.F.A. Dance and B.F.A. Theatre Studies do not require foreign language if you took the minimum foreign language requirement in high school) are all good choices.
4. Work with the UT Office of Admissions and use the Automated Transfer Equivalency website to make sure that the classes you take will transfer to UT.
Find it here: Automated Transfer Equivalency.
