The BFA Dance Placement auditions provide placement for admission into majors level dance technique classes. An intermediate level at minimum of either ballet or contemporary dance will serve students best for placement into dance technique courses that are restricted to dance majors.
Attire for the Ballet audition consists of a leotard and tights with hair secured away from the face. Ballet slippers are required for the Ballet placement audition.
Attire for the Contemporary audition consists of a leotard and footless tights, hair secured away from the face, and bare feet.
Sometimes as a result of the placement audition, dance faculty recommend placement in non-majors classes (302T). Placement at that level does not guarantee a student's enrollment in non-major dance classes, however; it is an indicator of where the student will make the most progress at that particular time. Note: No audition is required for TD 302T, TD 312T and TD 352T. See catalogue specific course requirements. Instructor consent may be required.
