If you choose to take Theatre and Dance classes prior to transferring, select courses that will apply toward your degree. Check the Undergraduate Catalog and the Automated Transfer Equivalency site to make sure you understand which courses are required for the degree you wish to pursue.

Keep copies of syllabi and work produced in all classes to assist departmental evaluation of transfer work not recognized by admissions.

Courses taken at two-year colleges will always transfer to UT as lower division. Be aware of the number of lower division Theatre and/or Dance courses that will count toward the degree you wish to pursue.

1. Where can I pick up an application?
Freshmen and Transfer students must apply through the UT Office of Admissions. You can pick up an application at the Office of Admissions located in the Main Building (the Tower), located at 24th and Whitis. Another option is to access the online application.

2. What do I need to know about auditions?
Only students interested in majoring in the B.F.A. Dance program are required to participate in an audition. Find out the dates and locations of these auditions on the auditions page.

3. What supplemental materials do I need to send to the Department of Theatre and Dance?
Transfer students and current UT students hoping to change majors to Theatre or Dance must submit a resume directly to the department. Address resume to:

Please indicate transfer of UT student status.

4. When will I know whether or not I've been accepted?
Freshmen and Transfer students will be notified of their acceptance directly by the UT Office of Admissions.

Internal Transfer students will be notified by mid-March.

Applicants who have auditioned for the B.F.A. in Dance will be notified of their acceptance by the UT Office of Admissions. Check with the UT Office of Admissions for notification dates.

5. Can I have a tour of the building?
Yes! Contact the Department of Theatre and Dance Main Office at (512) 471-5793 to arrange a building tour.
