
Degree Programs
A native of North Carolina, Sydney received her undergraduate degree this past year in acting from Greensboro College. Some of her favorite roles include: Abigail (The Crucible), Elena (Uncle Vanya), Percy (The Spitfire Grill), Madge (Picnic), and Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream). In addition to her training, Sydney spent a summer with the Berkshire Theatre Festival as an apprentice, and played the Spider in their production of James and the Giant Peach. She is so excited to now be a part of the Austin community, and looks forward to the experiences that the next three years hold!
Born in Portland, Maine, Marlane started acting at the age of four as the tiny spokesperson for a regional shoe company called Lamey Wellehan. From there she moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas and grew up doing local and high school theatre. She is a recent graduate from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where she earned a B.A. in Creative Writing and was a traitor to the English department by being more involved in theatre. Favorite roles on the UA stage include Adela in The House of Bernarda Alba, Louise in Steve Martin's The Underpants, and converting the role of Victor to Victoria in Zastrozzi: The Master of Discipline, where she got to sword fight (and lose). Her secret favorite was the role of Cobweb in A Midsummer Night's Dream where she learned to speak fairy.

Originally from Massachusetts, Verity received her B.A. from The University of California State Northridge. In addition to her training she toured with a Hip Hop Theatre Company throughout Los Angeles, married a South African Rugby player and had her first Rock Musical experience in Hair. Her first performance was at age 6 in Ireland. She is very excited to be apart of the M.F.A. program here in Austin!
Harrison Butler is a second year Graduate Student in Acting here at UT Austin. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Northern Colorado and attended The School for Film and Television's Two-Year Conservatory in NYC, where he worked professionally for 8 years. Notable stage roles include Jerry Mears in God's Man in Texas, Mitch in Tuesday's with Morrie, Don Pedro in Much Ado About Nothing, Jack Ross in A Few Good Men, Jonathan Harker in Dracula, the Case of the Silver Scream, and Sebastian in The Tempest. He has had lead roles in the independent Films Leaving the Garden and False Start. He also starred in Chicken Soup for the Absurdist Soul, which performed at the fringe festival in New York City.

Kate returns for her third year of the M.F.A. acting program after a summer spent as “Sharla" in Capital T Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Tracy Letts' Killer Joe at the Hyde Park Theatre in Austin. This fall at UT, she will play “Hecuba” in a new adaptation of The Trojan Women written by M.F.A. in playwrighting candidates Kimber Lee and Meghan Kennedy. Last summer, she performed at the Texas Shakespeare Festival, where she played “Olivia” in Twelfth Night and “Portia” in Julius Caesar. Other favorite past roles at UT include “Titania” in A Midsummer Night's Dream under the direction of Paul Mullins in the fall of 2008, and “Aglaya‒ in Scott Kanoff's adaptation of Dostoefsky's The Idiot in the spring of 2009. Kate is a 2004 graduate of Northwestern University and a native of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Originally from Long Beach, CA, Lesley graduated with a double major in Psychology and Theatre from University of California, San Diego. While in San Diego, she worked as a theatre educator in outreach programs with North Coast Repertory Theatre and Beacon Theatre. San Diego acting credits include Rhinoceros, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, 24/5, Down South (Fritz Theatre), For Season Ticket Holders Only (New Village Arts) and The Misanthrope (Epic Risk Theatre). In 2004, Lesley moved to Boston, MA and continued her work in theatre outreach programs with the award winning CityStage Co. Boston acting credits include The Laramie Project (Arlington Friends of the Drama), Spin, Tape (AYTB Theatre), Judgment (Boston University/Emerson College) and KidStage company membership at Boston Children's Museum. While in Boston, Lesley also worked at the Huntington Theatre Company, understudying for roles in Carol Mulroney, Persephone and Mauritius, as well as reading in the 2006 and 2007 Breaking Ground Festivals for Mauritius and Claire Silva.

Melissa was raised in Harlingen, Texas, where she began acting at the age of 8 as a member of the Junior Peacemaker Club, a diverse group of youth that expressed, through performance, the importance of peacemaking skills. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, double majoring in both Theatre and English. She was cast as the title role in States of Grace for the 2004 Festival of New American plays, working with playwrights Jack Heifner and James McClure. In the summer of 2005, she studied Irish Theatre at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland; and has taught and directed young actors at theatre camps across Texas. In Austin, she has loved her experiences acting in The Artspark Festival and Fronterafest. Additionally, she teaches Zumba at the UT Rec Center. She is represented by Liz Atherton at TAG.
Xochitl Romero is originally from Southern California. She earned her B.A. in Theatre from San Diego State University, as well as Improv Training from The Groundlings in Los Angeles. She has most recently been seen on Austin stages as “Thyona” in UT's Big Love, as “Tricia” in Dog Sees God, and “Una” in Blackbird, both at Hyde Park Theatre. Her filmwork includes Allison Davis' Duz Mi, as well as UTFI's most recent production this summer, Dance With the One.

Mark Scheibmeir is a native of Sherman, TX. He received his B.S. in Radio-Television-Film at The University of Texas at Austin. Favorite film roles include “James” in Unmoored (Trillium Studios, MA) and “Virgil” in Artois the Goat (Monolith Productions, TX). His recent UT Theatre and Dance credits are “Nikos” in Charles Mee's Big Love and “Ray X” in Mac Wellman's Bad Penny. He looks forward to his role as “Demetrius” in UT Austin's fall production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Mark also appeared this summer as “Claudio” in Much Ado About Nothing with Anne Ciccolella and Austin Shakespeare Festival; he looks forward to working with Anne and Austin Shakes again in this winter's upcoming production of An Ideal Husband at the Rollins Theatre. Mark is represented in Austin by Liz Atherton at Tag Talent. He would like to thank his Mom, Dad and four older brothers for their continued support.

Michael Sullivan was raised in San Diego. He recieved his B.A. in Photography and Cinematography from the Unversity of California at San Diego and booked commercials, and a TV role there and in L.A. after graduation. He enjoyed working at the La Jolla Playhouse and Shakespeare Santa Cruz before moving to New York, where he lived for five years, and feels is his true home. He would like to thank his mother for her undying support and love.

Tom Truss returned to school this fall to obtain an M.F.A. in acting. Before moving to Austin, he had a twenty-year career as a dancer that included touring with the Liz Lerman/Dance Exchange, creating and running his own company, getting certified as a teacher of the Alexander Technique, and obtaining an M.F.A.. in dance from the University of Iowa. Before all that moving about, he graduated from the College of Wooster with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance.
A native of Cleveland, OH, Shaun has acted professionally since the age of five. He has a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Acting from Wright State University in Dayton, OH. He has been seen in both regional and national commercials. His professional theatre credits include Crossing America at the CTG Kirk Douglas Theatre, Jitney at the Human Race Theatre Company, Lobby Hero at the Contemporary American Theatre Company, Boys Next Door at the Whitmore Lindley Theatre and the Dunbar Musical at the Dunbar House Outdoor Stage. Shaun is also a proud member of the Actor's Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild.
