It's going to be a busy summer for Playwriting Students from the University of Texas…

Gabriel Dean

Gabriel Dean'ss play Buy My House…Please! will receive it's world premiere under the direction of Susan Reid at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA in October 2009. The Aurora will also be doing a public reading of his most recent play, Qualities of Starlight in conjunction with the opening.

Martin Zimmerman

Martin Zimmerman's play, White Tie Ball, was recently selected for the 2009 M.F.A. Playwrights's Workshop at The Kennedy Center.

The Kennedy Center and the National Center for New Plays at Stanford University, in association with the National New Play Network, are pleased to announce the 4th Annual M.F.A. Playwrights's Conference. This program provides outstanding graduate students in playwriting an intensive development process on a new work while in residence at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, July 25 – August 2, 2009.

Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig

Frances is one of three playwrights chosen for a residency at the Hedgebrook Women Playwrights Festival (on Whidbey Island May 14 – June 1).

Frances is one of six playwright's selected for the PlayPenn development program (in Philadelphia, July 10 – 26).

Frances will also participate in 2009 M.F.A. Playwrights's Workshop at The Kennedy Center. (Washington DC, July 27 – August 2).

Frances will be an Artist-in-Residence at the MacDowell Colony (August 3 – September 18). And then an Artist-in-Residence at the Santa Fe Art Institute, October 10 – December 30, 2009.

And last, but not least, Frances' play, “LIDLESS” is the winner of the Yale Drama Series Award selected by David Hare. This award includes a $10,000 prize, the publication of “LIDLESS” by Yale University Press in fall 2010, and a staged reading at Yale Rep. September 21, 2009.

If that weren't enough good news, “LIDLESS" also received a $2500 Developmental Grant from Interact Theatre.

Kimber Lee

Kimber Lee's ten-minute play, TOPPER, will be premiering in NYC as part of The National M.F.A. Playwrights Festival presented by Theatre Masters.

Steve Moulds

This June, Steve Moulds will be directing ROBOTS VS. FAKE ROBOTS by David Largman Murray for Walking Shadow Theatre Company in Minneapolis.

In August, Steve's new one-act comedy BUYER'S REMORSE will premiere in the Minnesota Fringe Festival.

Jenny Connell

Jenny has a job in NYC, is a nominee for the Cherry Lane mentorship program…and she's starting a new, top-secret project.
