Design Alumna Takes Top Award at the New York International Fringe Festival

Szu-Feng Chen's (M.F.A. 2008) design for The Alchemist of Light was recognized for Outstanding Set Design at the New York International Fringe Festival. The Alchemist of Light tells the gripping story of film special effects inventor George Melies (1861–1938) as he faces events that threaten his loved ones and livelihood in the early days of World War I. The New York International Fringe Festival is the largest multi-arts festival in the country. The festival runs throughout the month of August and plays host to more than two hundred companies culminating over one thousand performances.
