Non Majors

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I minor in Theatre or Dance?

While some colleges at UT will allow you to declare a minor in Theatre and/or Dance, the Department itself will not recognize any official minor. It is therefore the student's responsibility to identify courses available to them as non majors which will fulfill the requirements of their own college. Non Theatre and Dance majors who have questions about how to satisfy a minor should meet with their own academic advisor in the college in which they are currently enrolled.

Can non majors audition for Theatre and Dance productions?

Yes. Look for audition notices posted on the call board by the East entrance of the Winship Building.

Courses available to Non-Majors:

If you wish to add a class that is full, you must do so through the waitlist and/or the add/drop registration process of ROSE.

Majors' Dance Classes
If you believe that you have achieved a level of proficiency beyond the Non-Majors Dance classes, you must attend our dance placement audition. The dance placement audition will be held on the day before the first day of class for dance classes to be taken in the Fall semesters and the first day of class for the Spring semesters. The dance placement audition decides the appropriate level of class you should be in. It does not guarantee placement into the class. If there is room after dance majors are placed into sections, non-majors will be added.
