The UT Department of Theatre & Dance presents the world premiere of Aisle 7, the hilariously frightening new work by Austin playwright Kendall Lynch that examines being human in 21st century America.
Aisle 7 is vanguard American theatre that puts the audience on top and amid the action. Enter Camille's world, a modern day grocery that must be the best place on earth, and explore the thoughts we all have running through our scattered brains in 2006. As director Corey Atlkins put it, "Audience members who come ready and willing to actively engage in the story will have a really rich experience. Passive viewers, beware!"
***And, since the play is set in a grocery store, Atkins is turning the performance into a wonderful excuse for a food drive for the Capital Area Food Bank. The crew is asking the public for canned food and non-perishable items for props that will be donated to help feed the hungry.
Aisle 7 opens February 24, 25 & March 1-4 at 8PM, February 25, 26 & March 4 & 5 at 2PM in the UT's B. Iden Payne Theatre. Tickets are $16-10, available at www.utpac.org, (512)477-6060 and UT PAC Ticket Offices in Bass Concert Hall (M-F, noon-6PM) and Hogg auditorium (M-F, 10-2PM). Due to the unique staging of this production seats are limited.
