Holes Scene Rendering

Explore the scene renderings below or to the right by Scene Designer Szu-Feng Chen for the Theatre and Dance Production of Holes

Holes  Basic Scenery

These renderings illustrate the basic scenery for this show. Every scene change will occur on this stage. The pattern of flowing strips on the background represents the texture of desert as well as the feeling of time. The squares of colored images represent snapshots of Stanley's (main character) world that he uses on his journey to find the value of himself. The magic of this backdrop is its translucence. By using backlighting, the scene with the gray background will change to the scene with the colored background to represent the lush world from the past..

Holes  Digging Effects

Digging is an important action throughout the show. Inn order to have holes on stage, I designed a rising platform to create the illusion of "digging". The main stage will slowly rise to reveal the holes the boys dig throughout the show.
