The following is a list of means by which Theatre and Dance majors and non–teaching graduate students may be admitted to Departmental shows.
I. Ways to see shows for FREE:
Invited Final Dress Rehearsal:
This performance takes place the evening prior to opening night. There is no admission charge, and all majors are encouraged to attend. This performance is not open to the public, Majors Pass required to attend. Majors should particularly attend the Brockett Theatre shows on preview night, as they tend to sell out.
Major's Pass:
This pass allows TD
majors to claim at the Winship Box Office, without charge, any unsold seats at departmental performances. Though the box office staff will do its best to ticket students with this pass, it does not guarantee admission (The Major's Pass is similar to flying "stand by” on an airplane).
Students should be aware that using the Major's Pass to see shows in The Brockett Theatre (which only seats around 200) is risky. Therefore, students should consider attending preview night for Brockett Theatre performances. However, the Payne Theatre seats up to 500. The Payne Theatre shows usually do not sell out, so there are generally seats available for students with Major's Passes.
This pass is given out at the beginning of each semester by the Undergraduate Advising staff. Non-teaching graduate students should see Mary Kay Lutringer for details on how to obtain a Major's Pass.
II. Ways to see shows for a DISCOUNT:
Discounted Student Tickets:
The cost is $15.00. These tickets can be purchased in advance at the TPA Box Office in the Bass Concert Hall or beginning an hour before the performance at the Winship Box Office. Students must show their UT I.D. card to buy at this discounted student rate.
Student Ticket Packages:
Students have the option to purchase this package when they register for classes, or at any time through the Cashier's Office. The cost is $30.00 when purchased in the fall, or $15.00 when purchased for just the spring semester.
The package includes one ticket for each of that year's Main Stage shows. This is a very smart investment for students who are required to see shows, but who can only attend on specific nights.
After you have paid for your ticket package, take the receipt to the Bass Concert Hall Box Office. Your tickets will be issued to you at that time.
