If you answer "YES" to any of these questions then you should audition for UT Connections!

UT Connections is designed to reach youth in the greater Austin area with a program that extends and supports the dynamic theatre programs already offered in schools. Meeting each Sunday afternoon beginning late September, UT Connections will bring high school, undergraduate and graduate students together to reflect on ensemble members' interests and aspirations. Using these ideas, traditional and emerging forms of theatre performance will be explored with teaching artists from UT and the Austin area. Each semester the UT Connections ensemble will perform their work on the UT campus.

How do I get involved?

UT Connections is a Youth Theatre Company affiliated with the Department of Theatre and Dance that meets from 2:00-5:00 on Sundays during the school year. We create original performances based on themes selected by the members of the company. We’re looking for performers, musicians, artists, technicians—anyone who wants to speak up and create new performances. We accept 25-30 students each year of ALL experience levels from grades 9-12. We’re looking for a diverse, dynamic group of students!

Students do not need to prepare anything for the audition (other than the audition form). The audition will consist of an interview and a reading of a short scene. (The whole audition should take about 10 minutes.) Students will be notified of their acceptance in UT Connections by September 19, and the first rehearsal (which includes a parent orientation) will be held from 2:00-5:00 on Sunday, September 23rd.

Tuition for UT Connections is $300 per year. Need-based financial assistance is available. Please do not let tuition costs discourage you from participating in UT Connections. If you are committed to being a part of this organization, UT Connections will do everything we can to find funding for you.
